The core of the BRT-125 fuse, the copper and nickel particles, are made of a very special alloy. This alloy was designed to be exceptionally malleable and to tolerate temperatures up to 1500 degrees Celsius. This robust composition enables the fused metal to quickly reach optimal temperature levels during arcing, thus breaking the circuit. The particles also render the fuse smokeless and non-burning.

The BRT-125 fuse is designed to operate in one of two configurations depending on the application needs: overload with a low let-through current or short circuit with a high let-through current. In an overload configuration, the fuse will respond to current changes as low as 0.1 amps, providing adjustable protection against overcurrent conditions.

In a short circuit configuration, the BRT-125 fuse will respond to a current exceeding the design limit and trip the circuit in approximately 10 microseconds, providing exceptional fast-acting protection against the harmful effects of electrical surges. When tripped, a replacement fuse must be installed in order to re-establish the circuit.

The BRT-125 electrical specialty fuse is designed with safety features such as a maximum current rating, axial leaded terminals, and fuse status indicator. The maximum current rating is displayed on the fuse body, ensuring that the fuse is not overloaded.
