The BTH-120-02-H-D-A is an edge type mezzanine connector which is part of a range of rectangular connectors with arrays. It is designed as an interconnection between two closely mounted PC boards, and is typically used in the implementation of stacked PCBs with limited Z-axis height and robust electrical connection. The hermaphroditic design enables usage of either of the two mating parts for male- or female-type applciations.

Working Principle

The BTH-120-02-H-D-A is equipped with two rows of 6 mm contact pitch with a current rating of 2.0A ac/dc and a maximum voltage rating of 130V ac/dc. It has two-part construction, female receptacles, and male plugs. The female receptacles feature spring-loaded contacts, while male plugs have locking tabs for locking the contacts in the housing. Contact insertion force is kept within 10N, so the board-to-board connection is established with minimal effort. Contacts are also plated with gold which enhances conductivity, improving signal integrity and providing improved latch between the mating connectors. This ensures that the connection reliably withstands the vibrations and shocks which occur during use.

The several hermetically sealed walls around the contacts ensure that the connection is made in an atmosphere without any dust or moisture. This prevents the formation of corrosion on the contacts, and so transfers the contactingsignal without any disturbance. Moreover, the shield covering the contacts prevents electromagnetic interference and crosstalk between the connectors.
