RF transceiver modules are widely used in the fields of wireless communication and wireless communication. Among them, BTS-TMD (BT Spoke Terminal-Time Division Multiplexer) is a transceiver module specially designed for time-division multiplexing communication in wireless communication industry. It is mainly composed of BT Spoke Terminal (BST) system and Time Division Multiplexer (TMD). The system of BST connects to TMD via wired (coaxial cables or fiber optical cables), wireless (Local Multipoint Distribution System, LMDS) or mixed (wired and wireless) transmission. The TMD then transfers the signal to the affected service unit, such as the mobile station, base station, or other communication devices.

The working principles of BTS-TMD are based on time-division multiplexing technology. The transmitter includes BST which is responsible for the modulation and coding of the signal with the carriers for transmission. It uses the frequency resource allocated by the transponder to MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) modulate the signal, and then the BST encodes the signal with the carrier. Finally, the transmitter sends the signal to TMD where the signal is divided into several time slots according to the time division multiplexing method.

Then, in the receiver end, TMD first collects the signal and demultiplexes the signal according to the different time slots. Finally, the demultiplexed signal is transferred to BST which decodes and demodulates the signal, making it ready for further service delivery. After that, the identified signal is sent to the affected service unit, such as mobile station. The service unit will then complete the signal processing, such as error correction, and finally deliver the data.

Overall, compared with the traditional single antenna system, the BTS-TMD can be used to enable multi-input and multi-output (MIMO) transmission and support multiple users. It is also suitable for multiple-channel and frequency division multiplexing communication. By exploiting the idle frequency resource, this transceiver module greatly improves the bandwidth utilization of the system.
