Common Mode Chokes (CMCs), also known as differential-mode inductors, are commonly used for suppressing differential-mode noise and preventing radio frequency interference (RFI). CMCs are used for switching power supplies, telecom equipment, and medical devices, to name a few applications. CAF-0.4-47 is a range of Common Mode Chokes with excellent performance features, which are widely employed in different industrial applciations.
The CAF-0.4-47 Common Mode Choke consists of 4 stacked choke coils installed in a single housing and packaged in a 2.7” x 1” x 0.54” rectangle outline enclosure that is UL 94V-0 approved for flame retardancy. Each individual coil is constructed with ferrite core and copper/ pigmented enamel winding over it for minimum core loss and higher power handling ability.Each chokes provides a wide input and output voltage range of between 4 to 250V, with an operating temperature ranging from -40°C to + 125°C. The frequency of these Common Mode Chokes varies with size and configuration, provided from 200kHz to 5Mhz.
CAF-0.4-47 Common Mode Chokes offer excellent performance features such as high current carrying capability, good inductance stability over a wide temperature range, low inductance tolerance values, low resistance and core loss, and full bandwidth performance over temperature. Moreover, due to its stable performance, the chokes can withstand harsh environment and can operate without any problem even in extreme temperature, dust, oxidation and mechanical stress.
The working principle of CAF-0.4-47 Common Mode Chokes is based on the principle of inductance. Inductance is the property of an electrical current to produce a magnetic field, and this magnetic field opposes the current. This property can be used to suppress high frequency AC signals, while allowing the DC signals to pass unhindered. By coupling together several inductors, a larger inductor is created, which helps to reduce the differential-mode noise at the source.
Additionally, the high frequency filtering capability of the CAF-0.4-47 Common Mode Chokes allows them to be used in a variety of applications such as in switching power supplies, PC and telecom equipment, embedded systems and LED lighting. The inductors can also be used in automotive applications to reduce EMI, RF interference and conducted and radiated emissions.
