A quartz crystal is connected to the input and output of the oscillator as a resonator and an inductor with a variable capacitor is connected to the amplifier circuit in order to set the feedback amount. It is this combination that produces the oscillations. The oscillator circuit is designed so that the frequency is automatically compensated for changes in temperature utilizing the piezo-electric characteristics of quartz. The temperature compensation is achieved through the use of an integrated thermistor which measures the variations in temperature and then adjusts the voltage depending on temperature fluctuations. The CB3LV-5I-26M0000 is typically powered by 3V and has an operational frequency range of 3.2MHz to 26MHz, making this an ideal alternative to an LF (Low Frequency) oscillator.
