Inrush current limiters (ICL) are voltage-dependent current-limiting devices used in electrical and electronic circuits. The CL-101A is an example of an ICL and is designed to limit the influx of current on power-up of a circuit, ensuring the downstream circuit does not experience damage from excessive current. When an over-current condition is detected, the device automatically reduces the number of series connected inductive-capacitive elements to a safe level, temporarily limiting the amount of current running through the device.
