Rectangular Connectors - Headers, Receptacles, Female Sockets

CLP-110-02-G-D-BE-K is a rectangular connector characterized by its multiple pinouts and different electrical properties. It is commonly used within the industry in various audio-visual products, computers and other electronic equipment. The connectors are broadly divided into two categories – head ergonomic connectors and receptacles.

Header connectors

Header connectors refer to a two-part connection system consisting of male and female connectors that lock together. In the CLP-110-02-G-D-BE-K model, the header connectors are composed of one male header connector with two rows of pins run along the side of the housing and a female header connector that slides over the pins and locks into place. The pins are square shaped and are 0.78 mm in width. Header connectors are generally used where reliability and mateability are of the utmost importance, such as in smaller electronic components and computers.

Receptacle connectors

Receptacle connectors refer to a family of connectors in which the female connector contains a plurality of slots directly accessed externally. These slots provide power and ground connection points for either the header or receptacle connector. CLP-110-02-G-D-BE-K model contains four receptacle connectors for each grid size. These connectors are 0.76 mm wide and are located opposite the header connector in the same housing. The electrical safety of the connection is ensured with the help of the metal ground shields in the housing. Receptacle connectors are generally used for higher power applications in audio-visual products and other electronic elements.

Female sockets

Female sockets are also known as "in-line sockets" and are unique to the CLP-110-02-G-D-BE-K model. These are metal alloy sockets which have a single row of pins configured on the back side and are cappable of supporting up to 8 A current. The pins provide electrical connection via insert molds located in the upper and lower portions of the socket. The CLP-110-02-G-D-BE-K female sockets feature a "snap-on" design which allows for simple and efficient assembly. Female sockets are mostly used in industrial applications and offer quick and easy connectivity.

Working principle

The electrical principle of operation for the CLP-110-02-G-D-BE-K connectors is based on three basic functional elements, namely, galvanic isolation, electrostatic shielding and electrical contact. The connectors are diecast from aluminum alloy to ensure good mechanical strength and electrical contact. The connectors are then gold plated for enhanced corrosion resistance. The gold plating also allows for the transfer of current between the two sides of the connector. When the header and receptacle connectors are coupled, an electrical connection is established. The metal ground shields within the housings ensure proper transfer of current and grounded contact. Finally, the female sockets provide point-to-point communication between the two sides of the device and hence allowing for better power efficiency.
