CLP-136-02-L-D-A-PA-TR Application Field and Working Principle

Clip technology’s CLP-136-02-L-D-A-PA-TR rectanguler connectors are non-gendered polarized headers and receptacles designed for low contact force, snap-in mounting capabilities and reliabilty. These versatile connectors enable secure and reliable connections to flexible circuits, rigid PCBs and insulated carriers with varying dielectric materials.

CLP-136-02-L-D-A-PA-TR are unique designs that consist of multiple contacts, namely four female and four male dual row, fully-insulated piercing contacts. Looking at the construction, they feature an etched satin-finish and are exceptionally well-suited for applications where good conductivity and disconnection force are vital, such as equipments for the automotive, industrial and medical industries.

The CLP-136-02-L-D-A-PA-TR rectangular connector variant is able to accept a wide range of mating connectors such as PCB headers, receptacles, cage and probes. Thanks in particular to its hermaphroditic design and simple coding, sequence, or blind mate requirements can be achieved easily, making it ideal for high-density mass connection requirements. Furthermore, these connectors are sold in bulk with accompanying pen-wizard & mating connectors that match individual requirements. With regard to temperature withstand, they are temperature-compatible with commercial soldering temperatures up to approximately 260 degrees centigrade.

The CLP-136-02-L-D-A-PA-TR three-position application field and working principle is relatively simple. With this technology, electrical energy is conducted between two contacts, and in the event of a disconnection, a short-circuit of the connection is created. This short-circuit is necessary in order to prevent false contacts and electrical arcing, caused by gravitation effects on the existing contact force. The short-circuit is created by a minimum of four spring contacts on either side of the female socket, that springs up in opposition and a minimum of four male contacts in the central core of the male socket, springing up in opposition.

Generally speaking, contact performance is enhanced thanks to the use of a spring material with low contact resistance. Furthermore, the contact force increases with the length of the normal-closed spring allowing a wider current flow path than with standard connector solutions. The CLP-136-02-L-D-A-PA-TR mating components are especially designed for high-amperage audio applications and offer increased power handling capability. Consequently, the current capacity and audible performance is higher than other connectors that typically offer lower power and current capabilities.
