Common mode chokes serve as an effective method of limiting differential mode as well as common mode noise presented on power and signal lines. The CM6594R-254 is a high performance, low cost common mode choke that provides superior performance when employed in computers, noncomputer based electronics, communications, and instrumentation equipment. The CM6594R-254 can selectively filter power and signal lines within many frequency ranges and is suitable for both Class A and Class B EMI performance levels.
Application Field
The CM6594R-254 is ideal for use in both horizontal and vertical applications. It is frequently used in Portable PC\'s, Notebooks and Netbooks, LCD monitor interfaces, Car System Applications, Scaler Interfaces, Systems for Meter/Power Line Communications, Video/Audio and Consumer Audio & Electronics, RF Control Systems, Security Systems, Software-defined Radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and other applications. In addition, due to its high performance in rejection of noise, the CM6594R-254 can be used for high frequency signal applications in the 250MHz to 300Mhz range, such as in telecommunication systems.
Working Principle
The basic principle of operation of the CM6594R-254 is based on the fact that electrical noise generated by electronic equipment dissipates as it travels along a conductor. As the noise dissipates, the electrical currents are induced into the conductor and then back out, creating a circular path known as a loop. In order to prevent this current from reaching the electronic equipment, the common mode choke acts as a barrier, limiting the flow of the induced current and preventing it from entering the equipment.
The CM6594R-254 is designed to operate at a wide range of frequencies, from 50MHz to 250MHz, and is capable of providing excellent EMI suppression performance. The unique design of the CM6594R-254 utilizes a multi-layered core formed from multiple turns of Litz wire, which provides a high-frequency impedance and a low-resistance path for the electrical currents. In addition, the CM6594R-254 features a high-surge tolerance that allows the current to pulse and move quickly without creating excessive heat or showing any signs of instability.
To ensure proper performance, the CM6594R-254 must be installed properly and securely. Proper installation techniques include providing adequate airflow around the component to dissipate the heat generated by the inductor and securely mounting it in place to prevent movement. The common mode choke will also need to be suspended or mounted near the electronic equipment in order to provide the best possible noise suppression.
