Common Mode Chokes (CMF) provide effective electromagnetic shielding, allowing power systems to operate in environments subject to noise and/or interference. By suppressing noise on power lines, CMF can improve the reliability of systems and reduce the amount of expected downtime. The CMF-0100 is designed to function as a flexible common mode filter for a wide range of applications.
Application Field of CMF-0100
The CMF-0100 is a common mode choke designed to address properties associated with an AC power line, such as electrical noise, conducted emissions, and conducted susceptibility. The units provide excellent performance up to 100 MHz, with a wide-ranging input power up to 500W, depending on the size and type of CMF. The unique design of the CMF-0100 provides integrated ferrite cores that suppress common mode noise.
The CMF-0100 is designed for a variety of applications, such as LED lighting, audio systems, heating and air-conditioning systems, automotive applications, and telecoms systems. Moreover, these chokes are designed for generic electromagnetic compatibility applications; they protect gear and ensure reliability in the face of harsh electric noise.
CMF-0100 Working Principle
The CMF-0100 is composed of coupled windings and two integrated ferrite cores, it is designed to provide high initial impedance at the intended target frequencies. A common mode choke operates by taking advantage of inductive and capacitive components to efficiently suppress common mode noise. An inductive component acts as a filter for high-frequency radiation, while the capacitive component filters out low-frequency radiation.
The integrated ferrite cores are designed to sense common mode current and generate a magnetic field to induce a voltage in the CMF-0100 winding. This voltage is directly proportional to the common mode current, and is out of phase with it. The voltage generated by the choke reduces the common mode current and effectively regulates it to acceptable levels. This process creates an effective common-mode choke that is designed to impedance target frequencies.
In addition, the CMF-0100 also offers excellent alternating common-mode noise suppression, by suppressing common mode noise on large amplitude power harmonics. The alternating currents experienced by large-amplitude power harmonics are intercepted by the choke and dissipated in the form of heat. In summary, the CMF-0100 is designed to provide an effective solution to common mode noise.
The CMF-0100 is designed to be an effective and efficient common mode choke for a wide range of applications. Its unique design and integrated ferrite cores allow it to effectively suppress common mode noise and help maintain reliable operation of systems experiencing noise and/or interference.
