PTC Resettable Fuses, commonly known as polymeric positive temperature coefficient (PPTC) fuses, are also known as polyfuse. Compared to traditional fuses, polyfuse are able to reset themselves after the current has reached the tripping point, eliminating the need for manual reset. The CMF-RLC50-10-0 application field and working principle should be analyzed further.

The CMF-RLC50-10-0 resettable fuse is a component of a VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) power system, which helps protect power plugs and sockets from over-currents. The CMF-RLC50-10-0 is a 250 Volt resistive element that has an adjustable current rating from 0.15 amps up to 10 amps. It is intended to be used in connection with a variable frequency drive system, typically located located after the main VFD power supply circuitry, when used primarily to protect contactors and socket contacts from over-currents.

Generally speaking, the working principle of a resettable PTC fuse involves sensing the current passing through the device. When the current reaches a certain threshold level, the internal resistance of the device rises due to heat generation, and thus reduces the current passing through it. This process works on the principle that the heat generated by the excessive current causes the polymer in the device to expand, reducing its ability to pass electrons and thus reducing the current. The element cools to ambient temperature and then returns to its normal low-impedance state.

When the current passing through a CMF-RLC50-10-0 resettable fuse exceeds its rated current, the heat generated by this current causes the element to expand internally. During this expansion, the internal resistance of the element rises dramatically, causing the current to be limited along with the voltage. This will ultimately cause the device to trip, and a voltage cutoff protection mechanism will be triggered.

The CMF-RLC50-10-0 resettable fuse is able to be reset simply by switching off the power supply and allowing the element to cool down. This allows the element to return to its low-impedance state once again, making it reusable. Therefore, the CMF-RLC50-10-0 is an excellent choice for protecting sockets and contactors from over-currents.

Overall, the CMF-RLC50-10-0 resettable fuse is a component of a VFD power system that helps protect power plugs and sockets from over-currents. The working principle of the device involves sensing the current passing through it and then limiting the current when the current reaches a certain threshold level. The element is then able to be reset simply by switching the power supply off and allowing the element to cool down. This makes the CMF-RLC50-10-0 an excellent choice for protecting both power plugs and contactors from over-currents.
