PTC Resettable Fuses are an automatic re-closable safety device that safely connects an electric circuit when a predetermined amount of current flows through it. The CMF-SDP07-2 is a PTC Resettable Fuse that is designed to help protect against short circuits, overvoltage, and thermal overloads.

The CMF-SDP07-2 defines a field of application, also known as a “parameter”. The parameters are the amount of current that trips the fuse (also known as the operating current or trip current) and the self-renewal voltage (or reset voltage).

To determine the operating current, the parameters must be followed that are set on the CMF-SDP07-2; the trip current is set at a current of 0.5A-16A. The other parameter is the self-renewal voltage, which is the voltage to which the fuse will automatically reset when the circuit is not being overcharged. The reset voltage is set to a range of 48V-72V or as recommended in the product description.

The working principle of the CMF-SDP07-2 is based on two components that are key to the operation of the fuse.
