RF Directional Couplers are a type of radio frequency device used in the telecommunication industry to create a measurement or diversion of power from a transmission line. The CPL-5221-10-SMA-79 Directional Coupler is a product of Fairview Microwave and is designed to help simplify and improve the accuracy of RF power measurement and monitoring processes.
The CPL-5221-10-SMA-79 Directional Coupler operates between the operational frequency ranges of 5.2 GHz up to 8.4 GHz and is designed for applications that require a wideband, low insertion loss and power monitoring capabilities. It handles up to a 10-watt maximum input power, with an insertion loss of 5 dB or less over a broad range, and operates with a maximum VSWR of 1.4:1. The design voltage standing wave ratio is 1.25:1.
The CPL-5221-10-SMA-79 Directional Coupler is well suited for applications such as Wi-Fi transceiver testing, synthesized signal testing, microwave point-to-point radio link, 2.4 GHz monitoring, distributed feedback laser testing, and many other types of applications.
The working principle of the CPL-5221-10-SMA-79 Directional Coupler involves four terminals (input port, main line port, coupled port and the output port). The input port is used to transmit the signal into the coupled line, referred to as the main line port. The main line port is connected to the coupled port, which measures the level of signal that has been coupled out from the input port. The remaining portion of the signal that has not been coupled out continues along the main line port into the output port. It is the measurement of the coupled port, which allows for the calculation of the signal levels at different locations.
The CPL-5221-10-SMA-79 Directional Coupler is designed to operate within a temperature range of -55°C to +85°C. The unit is housed in an aluminum case for maximum longevity and meets the industry standards defined in MIL-STD-883 and MIL-STD-202F. It is also backward compatible with other Fairview Directional Couplers.
Fairview Microwave provides the CPL-5221-10-SMA-79 Directional Coupler with a one-year warranty and is available for purchase in the United States. This product is designed to help simplify and improve the accuracy of RF power measurement and monitoring processes. It is well suited for applications such as Wi-Fi transceiver testing, synthesized signal testing, microwave point-to-point radio link, 2.4 GHz monitoring and distributed feedback laser testing.
