The CS230002-CZZ is a family of highly versatile and cost-effective clock generators, supporting a wide variety of frequency, timebase and output format requirements. Designed for a minimum of integration, these devices provide an exceptional level of flexibility and control for applications in telecommunications, automotive, industrial, military and other applications.

The CS230002-CZZ contains an oscillator and uses a phase-locked loop (PLL) to synthesize the desired stable output frequency. The phase-locked loop is an electronic loop circuit that maintains synchronization between the input reference signal and the output signal it produces. The oscillator generates a repeating output signal whose phase and frequency are in sync with the input reference signal. Through the concept of “negative feedback”, the phase-locked loop continuously compares the phase difference between the two signals and applies a correction to ensure they remain synchronized.

The CS230002-CZZ enables clock generation between 1 millisecond and 12 milliseconds. This range can be used to control both very fast and slow processes, in applications such as handsets for mobile phones, internet access points, and satellite receivers. The device also supports multiple timebases and outputs, including quartz crystal and ceramic resonator, Parallel and Serial, multi Clock, and multiple output signals. For example, the Parallel output supports two outputs at the same frequency while the Serial output supports multiple outputs at different frequencies.

The CS230002-CZZ supports both crystal and ceramic resonator-based clock generators, making it extremely versatile and cost effective. With crystal-based clock generators, the clock frequency is determined by a precision quartz crystal and its temperature stability. The frequency is maintained no matter what the operating temperature is. With ceramic resonator-based clock generators, the frequency is set by the resonator and is based on the temperature due to the fact that the resonator’s resonance frequency is dependent on temperature.

In addition to its crystal and ceramic resonator clock generator support, the CS230002-CZZ also incorporates frequency multiplication, enabling the output signal to be multiplied by an appropriate factor to reach the desired output frequency. This feature can be used to improve design capability, reduce component costs and improve operational reliability.

The CS230002-CZZ contains a spread spectrum clock generator which lowers electromagnetic interference (EMI) by automatically varying the edge rates of the clock output. The frequency spread spectrum also helps reduce the peak power caused by EMI and cross talk. This allows the device to be used in applications needing improved EMI performance, such as automotive, wireless, and other embedded applications.

Finally, the CS230002-CZZ includes a range of features that make it ideal for use in applications requiring power efficiency, high performance and flexibility. These features include low jitter, low noise, high speed, low power consumption and high temperature stability. This combination of features makes the CS230002-CZZ ideal for many clock generation applications, especially those that require high performance, noise reduction, power efficiency, and reliability.
