Working Principle of CY8C20180-SX2IT:

CY8C20180-SX2IT’s touch sensing solution utilizes a self-capacitive sensing technique. A CapSense controller IC with integrated low pass, high pass and AC/DC comparators works in conjunction with external pad hardware to measure small changes in the Capacitance of the PCB pad due to proximity of conductive material (solid object or finger) to the pad. This capacitance change causes a small voltage change in the external capacitor that is integrated with the Sense node. An ADC (Analog to Digital Converter) converts the signal to a digital signal for further processing and detection. The data is then passed to the MCU for further processing.

CY8C20180-SX2IT’s motion sensing solution uses a combination of self-capacitance and mutual capacitance sensing techniques. The capacitive sensor routes signals to the controller IC where they are processed to detect motion. When motion is detected, the controller IC passes the information to the MCU for further processing.
