The device consists of an on-chip capacitive touch sensor, which is connected to an internal Programmable Boosting Engine and a GPIO node. The Programmable Boosting Engine is designed to translate the touch-sensing signals into control signals. The integrated GPIO node is configured as an active output pin in order to send signals to the host system when sensed object is touched.The device operates based on the principle of charge injection. A small amount of electrical charge is injected into the sensing elements, which is then slowly drained from the electrode. The capacitive touch sensor measures the difference in charge on the electrode before and after injection. When contacted by an external object, the capacitance at the sensing element increases correspondingly, resulting in a change in the charge balance. This change is detected by the sensing elements, which is then translated into a control signal.
