Working Principle:
The DAC3482IRKDR is a voltage output digital-to-analog converter which converts incoming digital values into an analog voltage or current output based on the formula—VOUT/AOUT = VREF (1 LSB/D). By varying the reference voltage, different output ranges can be achieved for the optimized performance of the DAC3482IRKDR.
The device supports both 3-wire and 4-wire modes for external sensor integration. In 3-wire mode, the device takes an input reference voltage from the sensor and directly converts it into an analog output voltage. In 4-wire mode, the integrated conditioning circuit senses the reference voltage from the external sensor and provides an amplified version of the same voltage to the DAC, allowing greater accuracy and higher resolution.
The onboard voltage reference is used to correct the output drift and keep it stable. The 12-bit internal DAC is used to provide the voltage reference adjustments at selectable intervals in 1 mV increments. The on-chip digital phase-locked loop (PLL) is used to match the DAC output with the input frequency, eliminating the need of external filtering.
The DAC3482IRKDR has a number of safety features built-in, such as an over-voltage protection, over-current protection and on-board temperature protection that prevent malfunction or damage in case of extreme conditions.
In addition to these features, the DAC3482IRKDR also provides a short-term gain accuracy of 0.05% and a long-term stability of 0.01%, making it an ideal choice for digital-to-analog conversion in industrial applications.
