The DC1090A is a demonstration and evaluation kit for general analog design and system 2.0 (or higher) microcontroller-based designs on Printed Circuit Board (PCB) and firmware development. It is an extremely useful tool for any engineer or product designer as it can be used to test and debug analog design circuits, analyze system performance, validate hardware designs, and practice programming and system debugging skills.The DC1090A includes two boards: an analog module for analog signal processing and an embedded microcontroller-based board that allows users to control and monitor the analog signal processing functions. In addition, the kit contains many support components, including Power Supplies, Capacitors, Inductors, FPGAs, connectors, and a selection of electronic parts and tools that can be used for the development and testing of an analog design.The analog module of the DC1090A includes three separate processing elements for amplitude, frequency, and dynamic range measurements. It is capable of processing analog signals up to 10GHz and provides a variety of features directed at analog signal processing, including wideband and narrowband filtering, signal conditioning, tracking, and attenuation/gain functions.The embedded microcontroller board in the kit features the Atmel AVR MCU with 16K of RAM, 3 Timer Capture/Compare Units, 2 Programmable Serial USARTS and a 167 dB dynamic range Analog-to-Digital Converter for instrumentation or control applications. The kit also includes an 8-Channel Switched Multiplexer, a 16Mhz clock generator, an FRAM module for non-volatile program data storage, and a USB joystick interface for debugging.The DC1090A also includes a schematic editor, a code editor, and a programmable analog signal processing engine for creating and testing analog designs. Furthermore, the kit is compatible with a number of microcontroller cores, including Atmel ATmega, AVR, 8051, ARM7, ARM9, and Cortex. The AVR based design in the kit allows users to develop their own low-power designs that can be directly interfaced to AVR MCUs.Finally, the DC1090A has numerous advanced features, such as on-board user input/output switching, voltage output scaling, multi-function input drivers, and 12-bit data converter timing. This versatile kit is capable of testing a vast range of analog signal processing applications, making it an invaluable resource for any engineer or product designer.
