Evaluation and Demonstration Boards and Kits are recommended in many types of applications that require a full range of testing and demonstration for electrical systems. A popular example of this is the DK-PS21765 application field and working principle. The DK-PS21765 is a two-phase DC Brushless Motor Driver IC and is designed for driving one or two series-connected DC brushless motors for low power applications. This product has been designed with two independent PWM current-regulation loops and provides a high-precision current limit control. In addition, its auto-detection feature will detect motor topologies, so it can optimise the driving performance of the motor.
The DK-PS21765 operates by sending and receiving synchronous signals between the motor and the driver. Starting off, the driver will receive a pulse generated by the Hall sensors of each motor. This Hall sensor will sense the speed and direction of the motor and generate the pulse, which is then sent to the external driver IC. Once the pulse signal is received, the detected speed signal will be used to activate the PWM current-regulation loop. This loop is responsible for the generation of a constant current that will be supplied to the motor and then monitor the speed of the motor. Finally, the driver will output a voltage signal to the motor in order to control the rotation speed and catch up with the desired speed.
A few benefits provided by the DK-PS21765 are its compact size, improved power efficiency, quick heat dissipation and zero current running. As previously mentioned, this IC has two independent PWM current-regulation loops that can regulate both the current and the speed, making it very energy-efficient. Furthermore, the DK-PS21765 has a wide operating voltage range between 4.5 for 8.5V, and can also handle up to a maximum load of 2A.
The DK-PS21765 makes an ideal choice for applications that require a low power motor driver. Examples of these applications include home automation systems, health monitoring systems, and smart door locks. With a wide variety of features, the DK-PS21765 makes an ideal evaluation and demonstration board for testing and demonstrating electrical systems.
