Working Principle

The DPD090050E-P13/RN is a dual-mode switching power supply, which uses AC-DC conversion and DC-DC conversion technologies. The device includes a power switch, a transformer with a frequency control circuit, and a rectifier-filter circuit in its primary circuit, and a circuit composed of an oscillator, pulse width modulation (PWM) circuit and power switch in its secondary circuit.

When the device is turned on, the power switch in the primary circuit will be opened and closed periodically according to the output signal (PWM signal) from the PWM circuit in the secondary circuit. During this time, the transformer will alternately be charged and discharged, thereby yielding AC output of adjustable frequency.

The AC output is then sent to the rectifier filter circuit, through which AC voltage is converted to DC voltage and then output as the secondary output voltage. The peak power of the output voltage varies with the pulse width modulation width, which is adjustable through the PWM circuit.
