Application field & Working principle of DS21610SN+

DS21610SN+ devices are analog frequency synthesizers that provide a sine wave output of up to 120 MHz. They use a Push-Pull technique to generatevoltage controlled frequency-agile, stable sine wave patterns in a low-power, low-noise environment, with the aid of a digitally controlled programmable oscillator (DCO).

The main features of the DS21610SN+ devices include a +1/-1 ppm adjustment with a frequency step size from 1 Hz to 10 MHz, auto-calibration with an easy-to-use GUI, wide frequency range from 0.001 Hz to 120 MHz and low jitter/phase noise (0.5 ps typ). It also supports synchronizing the output to an external reference clock or synchronized system, or by phase locking to an external signal. Moreover, the devices offer a wide variety of supply voltage range, logic levels, logic functions and custom functional blocks.

The DS21610SN+ devices utilize a charge pump-based high-gain loop filter circuit which helps to eliminate loop noise and reduces harmonic content in the output signal. This high performance filter also minimizes time elapsed when the output frequency is changed. Additionally, the device also includes a low-power wake-up mode which keeps most of the circuitry in sleep mode until a clock signal is applied. This minimizes power consumption for applications where power budget is limited.

Additionally, the DS21610SN+ devices integrate a reference oscillator circuit to ensure a reference clock that is low noise, low cost and highly reliable. The oscillator circuit is designed to provide a low jitter/phase noise output that is independent of the supply voltage. The oscillator circuit also has a low power standby mode which enables the use of the device in applications that require low power consumption.

Finally, the DS21610SN+ devices are designed to be integrated into embedded systems where high performance and robust design are essential. The device provides an integrated temperature compensation capability which ensures the stability of the output frequency over temperature variations.
