The DS2176Q+ is a configurable 2-port modem controller device that transmits and receives data over simplex, dual-tone multifrequency (DTMF) telephone lines. It is a single-chip solution that provides comprehensive telecom control features, including support for call modes such as answer, originate, answer-and-originate and on-hook, with each port independently configurable. With the addition of a microcontroller, the DS2176Q+ can be used to create a complete telephone answering machine or modem-over-telephone-line system.
The DS2176Q+ is designed for easy integration with an external microcontroller. It provides an 16-bit register interface for data communication, as well as versatile control functions that allow directly connecting telephone lines, creating a simple telephone interface. Working Principle
