Working Principle
The DS2415P works by converting an incoming electrical clock signal into a timecode that can be tracked by a microcontroller. It uses an integrated oscillator which can be adjusted to provide accuracy of up to 10 ppm (0.01%) for improving timekeeping accuracy. Plus, the DS2415P also features a 12-bit counter which provides an improved resolution for both the frequency and crystal oscillator.
In addition, the DS2415P also features an interrupt generator for accurate timing information and a built-in alarm for timed intervals in seconds, minutes, hours and days. The DS2415P is also designed to keep track of leap year in both Gregorian and Julian calendar formats. On top of that, the DS2415P offers multiple power management options, such as auto power-on reset, power-fail detection, deep-sleep mode and watchdog timer.
