DS3906U+ is a family of digital potentiometers that offers a highly precise, digitally programmable resistor with a wide resistance range. It is designed for use in applications requiring dynamic adjustment of resistive elements such as voltage dividers or buffer amplifiers. It can be used alone, or in conjunction with other devices such as analog-to-digital converters, digital-to-analog converters, switches, or transducers.

The DS3906U+ family of devices consists of an integrated parallel array of electronic switches, a set of analog and digital control inputs, and an array of resistor elements. When an externally generated voltage, or digital control signal is applied to the analog switch control input, one of the resistive elements is selected. The selected resistance, RSEL, is then established by a voltage divider between the selected resistor and ground. A separate, separate digital switch control input can be used to select the ground, whether it be internal (grounded) or external (floating ground).
