Oscillators are electronic components that generate an AC output from a DC source. The output can be used for various tasks from timing various stages of a circuit to sending and receiving data. The DSC1123AI2-155.5200T oscillator is a high-precision, surface-mount oscillator that provides a wide range of frequency rangings from 2.5MHz up to 155.5MHz.

This oscillator has several applications which include: providing timing signals for microprocessor systems, generating reference signals for PLL direct digital/analog synthesizer systems, providing timing signals for frequency modulated wireless applications, and as clock sources for Ethernet transceivers. The device is housed in a 2.0 x 2.5mm surface-mount package and is rated for a temperature range of -40 to +85°C. It is also capable of being programmed for a voltage range of 1.2 to 3.6V.

The DSC1123AI2-155.5200T oscillator uses a crystal resonator, usually quartz, to generate a precise frequency. The resonator is placed between two electrodes. When a voltage is applied to the electrodes, the crystal resonates at its resonant frequency. This frequency is then amplified, filtered, and used as the oscillation signal. This frequency is very stable since the crystal resonator does not easily change frequencies with respect to temperature and other environmental factors.

The oscillator features a patented Frequency Control circuit which provides excellent frequency stability when operated within recommended operating conditions. It also incorporates a unique output buffer circuit for excellent output drive capability, allowing it to provide a robust signal output. The oscillator also includes a low-powered standby mode which allows it to operate in a wide operating voltage range which can save on power consumption.

In addition, the device features a “Positive Pull-Up” mode, which allows for a low-power operation. This feature ensures that the oscillation signal is kept at a consistent frequency even when the signal level is low. This eliminates the need for periodic recalibration, which can save time and money.

The DSC1123AI2-155.5200T oscillator is ideal for applications which require high precision timing signals that are both reliable and cost-effective. It can be used in a wide variety of applications such as computer system clocks, radio frequency signals, DTV receiver clock references, and HDD servo clock reference signals. It can also be used in other applications which require precise timing signals, such as laboratory and aerospace systems.
