Working Principle

The DSC6021CI2A-009UT is a ceramic based twostep oscillator circuit consisting of a quartz resonance tuner and oscillator. The Quartzity provides the desired frequency of 9MHz. The quartz crystal and capacitors are then wired together to form a parallel resonant circuit and a triggered relaxation oscillator. The quartz crystal acts as a frequency-determining element and one of the capacitors acts as an output buffer producing a low pull-in voltage. As the external voltage (VDD) changes, the capacitor stores energy and causes the RC network to tend to oscillate at a lower frequency. A temperature compensate voltage is applied to the quartz crystal which compensates for the quartz crystal\'s frequency drift with respect to temperature, resulting in a frequency accuracy of ±20ppm over the temperature range of -40 to +85°C. Additionally, the VDD applied to the oscillator core is monitored and adjusted over temperature to provide outstanding VDD stability.
