Programmable oscillators are devices or circuits that can produce signals of varying frequency, amplitude and phase. The DS C8001L AI5 is a CMOS Programmable Monolithic Frequency Synthesizer that can be used as a local oscillator in a frequency synthesizer or a Radio Frequency (RF) system. The DS C8001 is optimized for small size and low power, and offers easy operation, superior frequency stability and high performance.

The DS C8001L AI5 is a CMOS device which consists of four main parts: an oscillator, an analog control circuit, a programmable logic unit (PLU) and a voltage regulator. The oscillator uses an external quartz crystal to generate a fixed frequency, which is then modulated by the analog control and PLU circuitry. The output frequency is determined by the PLU settings, which can be programmed with an external memory device.
