Let’s take a closer look at the DSC8004AL2’s application field and working principle.The DSC8004AL2 is a programmable oscillator, designed for high-performance timing sources where frequency flexibility and absolute accuracy are required. Thanks to its intrinsic low jitter and wide frequency range, it is suitable for use in demanding communications, audio, and embedded system applications. Its wide accuracy range—less than 0.04%—makes the DSC8004AL2 especially useful in applications where accuracy matters. In addition, the device can easily be programmed via software to maximize the efficiency of any system, and it is also able to self-calibrate in order to stay within optimal performance parameters.The DSC8004AL2’s core is made up of an analog-controlled oscillator, an oscillator mode control, a high-frequency edge detection circuit, an output buffer, and an 8-bit EEPROM. This hardware combination provides reliable and accurate signal generation up to a frequency of 200MHz. The digital control interface allows the DSC8004AL2 to store and use up to three different frequency settings, accessible through a simple 3-state switch.The DSC8004AL2 also features a programmable output logic level. This allows the users to configure a logic level via software, from 0.8V to 5V, meaning that the device can direct digital output signals for systems with higher drive. Last but not least, the DSC8004AL2 is provided with a standby pin input, allowing it to be driven to low power mode without the need for additional parts.The DSC8004AL2 is a very efficient, high-performance programmable oscillator that can be used in a variety of demanding applications.
