DVK-RM186-SM is a small size evaluation and development board, which is designed for modern wireless applications such as GSM/GPRS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ZigBee®, UWB, and proprietary processor evaluation platforms. It is based on TI\'s OMAP-L138 processor and comes with a set of user-friendly development/evaluation components, including a power management board, an OLED display, an RF daughter board, a high-end FPGA daughter board, and a wide variety of communication connectors and connectors suitable for various radio frequency operations.
The OMAP-L138 processor within the DVK-RM186-SM serves as the core of the processor evaluation platform. It is designed to support a wide-range of peripheral processors, transceivers and related components. It is a highly integrated, low power and low cost solution which features on-chip power management, on-chip peripheral drivers and multiple communication channels. Additionally, the on-chip OMAP-L138 core support both Linux and Windows CE operating systems. With these features, the processor can support higher performance, lower power application, and multiple applications at the same time, thus making it the perfect choice for low-end wireless applications.
The DVK-RM186-SM is equipped with an extensive set of peripherals, which are different from traditional evaluation boards. It offers a wide varietyof I/O capabilities, such as GPIOs, dual-mode RF, UART, I2C, SPI, JTAG and several other interfaces. The FPGA daughter board is based on TI\'s newest ARM Cortex-M3 processor and contains several configurable components, such as an RF transmitter, Tx/Rx and signal synthesizer. Additionally, the FPGA is capable of handling a variety of exciting lower-level operations, such as signal synthesis and FSK/GFSK modulation.
The goal of the DVK-RM186-SM is to provide a complete evaluation and development platform for wireless protocol study and RF design approaches. It offers the opportunity to explore the potential of a variety of signal processing and modulation schemes from the start. Moreover, it also supports integration of external transceivers and external RF antennas via the OMAP-L138 processor. This allows for further optimizations on the radio frequency (RF) side while studying antennas, signal processing, or other wireless technologies.
