The DVK-WLM400 are RF Evaluation and Development Kits, Boards brought by Microchip Technology for Wireless Sensing application fields. It allows users to quickly evaluate, develop, and send/receive data wirelessly with an integrated IEEE 802.15.4 Wi-Fi®/BLE™ solution. Complete system performance is guaranteed through simultaneous Wi-Fi and Bluetooth® Low Energy (BLE) compatibility, and operates in the globally available 2.4 GHz ISM band.

The DVK-WLM400 boards are a Radio Frequency (RF) evaluation tool offering a wide variety of features for application developers, system integrators, and makers. The DVK-WLM400 includes a comprehensive development platform consisting of IEEE 802.15.4 radio transceivers, wGate™ low power light weight gateway software and a wide range of digital interfaces, including Debug USB Port, UART, and I2C.

The DVK-WLM400 primarily consists of 3 distinct components, the RF circuit, the firmware, and the ATmega258-based transceiver. The RF circuit consists of an AT86RF214 Bluetooth/802.15.4 based radio transceiver. The firmware is a modified version of the TrueRF Software developed by Microchip. This ensures compatibility with the TrueRF architecture used in Microchip’s range of radios.

The ATmega258-based transceiver offers the flexibility to add custom features like, low power scan, configurable parameters, FSK modulation, and external or BEE mode. It also supports Microchip\'s Debug Plus Low Frequency/Medium Frequency extension. This provides a ready-to-use resource for development on the ATmega258 processor and adds to the customization potential of the DVK-WLM400.

The DVK-WLM400 is a cost-effective, low-power solution for wireless connectivity and secure transfer of data. It features the integrated Atmel ATmega258 processor and Atmel Studio 6 development environment, enabling the rapid evaluation and development of Wifi and Bluetooth applications. The Atmel low-power radio architecture allows extended battery life with a transmission speed up to 2 Mbps and a radio range up to 30 feet.

The DVK-WLM400 is a versatile device with many programmable features. The configuration menus provide access to parameters such as modulation, coding, and data rate. It also offers a number of communication protocols including 802.15.4, 6lowpan, ZigBee®, and BLE. With the integrated antenna and on-board power supply, the device can be used in a variety of applications where range and speed are required.

The DVK-WLM400 board has been designed for the easy evaluation of product performance. The on-board JTAG and the serial port pins allow customized parameters to be configured, allowing the user to easily evaluate performance.
