This controller nicely combines a compound control loop with a cycle by-cycle single-cycle over current protection. The parts are fully protected against bursts of load current up to 15 A peak and feature a minimum start-up current of 5 mA.
The E-UC3842BD1 provides an ideal solution for many AC / DC Converters, Offline Switchers, low power applications and high frequency power supplies. It is designed to operate from universal mains (50 / 60 Hz line frequencies) and is available in high performance, commercial, or automotive temperature ranges.
Working Principle of the E-UC3842BD1
The E-UC3842BD1 employs a “compound” control loop which ensures good response for small output voltage changes. To meet world wide power line requirements, the E-UC3842BD1 can be used in the operation of either low line voltage (85Vac) or high line voltage (265Vac). Cycle by cycle single cycle over current protection is provided with a fast latching circuit that allows a very accurate setting over a wide dynamic range. An adjustable soft start is used to prevent the output from inrush current and overshoot; it is also use to prevent an instantaneous output voltage from overloading higher than the power line voltage.
The E-UC3842BD1 has a constant frequency operation for proper EMI filtration. It allows to use smaller magnetics elements and allow operation over a wider range.
