The E3S-DS10B4 from Omron is a Photoelectric Sensor with integral amplifier and Disc-slotted type in the E3S series. This sensor is composed of an amplifier and a slot facing disc. It utilizes a Simple amplifier with a narrow-gap (500 µm) photoelectric sensing method. Multiple output functions are available: Light-operate/ DARK-OPERATE, npn/pnp digital Multifunction Output, and Analog Output. In addition, both reverse polaritiy and long distance models are available for the 4 mm slot facing disc type.

Application Field:

E3S-DS10B4 photoelectric sensors are primarily used in industrial applications for sensing object position, speed, and size. The slot/disc model is most commonly used for detecting the rotation of objects in conveyor systems, and for sensing the passage of objects. These photoelectric sensors are also extremely useful in production processes for detecting the presence of objects of varying heights and lengths when mounted at a fixed distance from the target.

Working Principle:

E3S-DS10B4 photoelectric sensors rely on a transmitted output or reflected output from the sensor to the receiver in order to detect objects. The emitted light is transmitted or reflected from the object to the sensing head of the detector, which then converts the light into electrical signals. Depending on the type of model used, the output mode can either be a Digital or Analog output.

For the transmitted output, the light as emitted from the sender passes through a gap of 500 µm and into the target. The receiver detects the presence of the object and sends back an electrical signal.

For the reflected output, a light beam is emitted from the transmitter, and an reflector is used to bounce the light beam back to the receiver. When the receiver detects the presence of the object, it sends back an electrical signal.

The E3S-DS10B4 is also available in an analog output model, which uses a photo detector to convert the light to an electrical signal. The output voltage of the sensor is proportional to the amount of light that is detected by the photo detector.
