The E3S-R31 is an optical sensor, designed as an industrial model which features a digital photoelectric detection circuit. This sensor works on the principle of reflection and transmission from an object in the field of view of the detecting elements. It uses light emitting diodes (LEDs) for emission and a pair of optical receivers for detection. In addition, it is also equipped with a microprocessor circuit for detection and data processing.
The E3S-R31 utilizes a threshold current method in its detection method. The threshold current is set with a binary switch on the sensor. This current will only be exceeded if the object in the field of view is reflecting and/or transmitting light.
