Optical sensors are electronic devices that detect light, measure its intensity and convert it into a signal, producing detectable information. The E3T-FL13 2M is an optical sensor belonging to this technology family, and it’s specifically designed for industrial applications.
This sensor can detect reflected visible light and convert it into electrical signals, with Detection Range (50 mm max.) and Depth of Field (100 mm max.) both very wide. The working principle of the E3T-FL13 2M relies on the detection of light. To put it simply, it operates with a light emitting element (LED) that produces a beam of light, and a light receiving element that transforms it into electrical signals. As no power consumption is required in the presence of the detected object, power consumption can be kept to a minimum even in continuous detection operations.
The working principle of this kind of device is based on the idea of light reflection. In the presence of an object, some of the light is reflected and detected back by the receiver. This sensor is suitable for use in harsh environmental conditions, being well protected against dust, water, and other contaminants. Temperature range it can work in is between -20°C and +70°C, though it can be requested as a special modification up to +120°C, with the option of an LCD display.
This device offers good stability, repeatability and accuracy, as it’s made from long-lasting components with very little deformation or aging. It also requires low maintenance, so it can be used in applications where it needs to be relied upon for a long time.
Apart from that, it has NPN or PNP transistor output, short Circuit protection, Reverse Voltage protection and Insulation Test Voltage. As for the indicator, it’s a 5 V green LED. All of this makes the E3T-FL13 2M a great choice for industrial sensing applications.
