The E3T-SL14R is an optoelectronic device classified as a photoelectric sensor found in industrial settings, which is used to detect the presence of objects in its sensing range.

E3T-SL14R have a case structure and a mounting design consisting of a tubular type head, making it one of the most universally versatile sensors shown. They have a sensing distance of up to 6 m with a wide sensing range of 80°. They utilize various line-of-sight ON/OFF control functions, offering the flexibility to meet all applications. They can detect all kinds of objects including metals, plastics, glass and water.

The Operating Principle of the E3T-SL14R is referred to as retro reflective sensing. It consists of three components, which are a Transmitter, Receiver, and Retro Reflector. The Transmitter emits visible red light that is reflected off the target object, the Retro Reflector, and is eventually detected by the Receiver. When the sensor detects a target object, the receiver senses the reflected beam, reacts to the target, and switches the output status to ON. When the target object is removed, the light beam is unable to be reflected back to the Receiver, and the output status of the sensor switches OFF.

In order to accommodate for stringent and specific application requirements, the E3T-SL14R is available with a few different sensing heads and housing types. The main available Diffuse Model has a sensing range of 15 to 30cm (6 in to 11.81 in), the Retro Reflective Model being between 50 to 600cm (19.68in to 236.22in). An E3T-SL14R model with a mutual diffuse background suppressor was also devised to prevent any false detection when two or more targets are detected at once, ensuring accuracy and efficient detection capability.
