The Everett Charles Technologies (ECT) E3X-DAB11-N is a microminiature, SMA packaged, three-section double balanced Mixer designed for applications in the S-Band and L-Band frequency range through its broadband IF output.

The E3X-DAB11-N is rated wideband frequency of 800MHz - 6000MHz and provides good linearity achieved with common double balanced microstrip topology. It is mainly applied in the medical equipment, satellite communication, instrument amplification and so on.

E3X-DAB11-N Application Field

ECT\'s E3X-DAB11-N, as a microminiature double balanced mixer, is capable of performing a variety of signal processing tasks, these tasks are:

  • Medical Equipment: The E3X-DAB11-N can be used for amplifier in kinds of medical equipments, like Ultrasound Transducer. With its wide bandwidth, it can amplify or process signals in ultrasound range. Also, with wide sections of gain variation, it can also be applied for transmitters, receivers, timing circuits, echo and other medical equipment.
  • Satellite Communication: As a wideband amplification device, the E3X-DAB11-N can be used in satellite communication equipments for frequency conversion in satellite terminals, signal amplification, and link optimization of satellite system.
  • Instrumentation: It also can be used as a amplifier in instruments, especially for measuring instruments. Its wideband design allows it to amplify a wide range of signals used in different measuring equipment.

Working Principle of E3X-DAB11-N

The E3X-DAB11-N is a double balanced design in a single package. It is a three-section microstrip topology that provides good linear performance with a high dynamic range. It combines the RF signals with a high-frequency local oscillator signal (LO) produced by a narrow band LO source to produce a sum and difference frequency signals.

The outputs of the mixer are then filtered to provide the required bandwidth for the application. The broadband IF output is used to maximize the dynamic range and linearity for a given level of LO injection while minimizing the size of the IF filter.

The E3X-DAB11-N utilizes an advanced process to produce a dramatic improvement in performance with minimal power consumption. The device is designed for the medical, instrumentation and satellite communications markets.

The device combines two baluns, one for RF and one for the LO, to create a compact mixer while minimizing the effects of LO feedthrough. This mixers also has excellent harmonic suppression for both single ended and double ended designs.

The E3X-DAB11-N has low insertion loss, controlled gains, and excellent linearity in a package size of just 3 mm x 3 mm. It is designed for high linearity, low noise figure, high harmonic suppression, and wide bandwidth operation.
