Working Principle:
The E6C3-CWZ5GH 200P/R 1M encoder works based on incremental measurements. It has an integrated high-performance magnetic encoder core and a magnetic sensing circuit. The magnetic tracks have an alternating north-south (N-S) sequence, which is defined from the magnetic core of the encoder. This sequence is translated into a logical signal consisting of a clock pulse (A) and a direction signal (B), by the sensing circuit. The output signal from the encoder is proportional to its rotational speed.
The magnetic encoder core consists of four magnetic orbital tracks. The tracks are arranged in such a way that they radiate from the center, like rings of a tree trunk. The magnetic core can remain stationary while the interface is rotating around it. The orbital tracks on the core contain evenly spaced north and south magnetic poles, which create and alternate N-S sequence on the core.
The sensor circuit can identify the N-S sequence on the magnetic core and translates it into logical signals. The logical signals include a clock pulse (A) and a direction signal (B). The frequency of the clock pulse is inversely proportional to the speed of the rotating encoder. The direction signal (B) is used to indicate the direction of rotation when the encoder is rotating.
The output signal from the encoder is a square wave signal with a pulse repetition frequency (PRF) directly proportional to the rotational speed of the encoder or encoding interface. The E6C3-CWZ5GH 200P/R 1M encoder features a maximum PRF of 1 MHz, which is enough to measure speed up to 500 RPM. This makes it suitable for high-speed applications.
