Power Line Filter Modules are used to protect the equipment from power supply disturbances, such as over- or under-voltage, spikes, and electrical transients. The EAM-20-101 is one of these filter modules, and is designed to protect the industrial device from static electricity, surges, and other electrical disturbances.
The EAM-20-101 device is a two-stage inductor-capacitor-resistor network formed in a circuit board in an external housing, measuring 8” x 8“ x 4” and weighing 1.7kg. The two stages consist of an EMI filter, used to mitigate electromagnetic interference, and an RFI filter, used to minimize radio frequency interference. The principle of operation is that the filter module allows normal AC line currents to pass through, while blocking the unwanted interference.
The EAM-20-101 module is designed to attenuate conducted EMI and EFI signals up to 10kHz. It features an inrush surge current of 40A, a peak pulse current of 125A, and a maximum operating voltage of 253 VAC. The filter module is also designed to sustain thermal overloads of up to 150°C with no permanent damage. The module also includes built-in surge suppressors which protect against damaging voltage surges of up to(+/-) 800V.
