The film may be plasticized polyvinylchloride (PVC), polycarbonate (PC), polyester (PET or Mylar), polypropylene (PP) or various combinations of these. The electrodes of the capacitor are metallic layers, typically aluminum or zinc, deposited on the film. The capacitance of the capacitor depends on the size of the electrodes, the thickness of the film and the permittivity of the dielectric material.
