Crystals
ECS-42-12-1 is a popular quartz crystal device used in oscillators and resonators. It is much more reliable and provides much better frequency stability than its mechanical counterparts.
Application Field
ECS-42-12-1 quartz crystal has a wide range of applications such as in frequency control and timing applications. It is widely used in RF communication systems, digital cellular phones, watches, computers, personal digital assistants and medical instrumentation for frequency control and timing. This device offers high frequency accuracy, low power consumption and long life.
Working Principle
ECS-42-12-1 quartz crystal operates according to piezoelectric principle. It is composed of a quartz crystal and two electrodes. When initially fabricated, the quartz crystal is cut along one or more of its crystallographic axes. This induces over the crystal a permanent electric dipole moment. When a reverse-bias voltage is applied to the crystal, the crystal bends, the positive and the negative charges on two sides of the crystal are separated and a voltage appears across the crystal.
When an AC voltage of same frequency is applied to the crystal, the internal electric dipole moment begin to oscillate back and forth at a frequency called resonant frequency. The resonant frequency is close to the frequency of AC voltage applied as the input voltage. This resonant frequency is very stable and only little is changed when temperature or other environment factors such as humidity or pressure fluctuates.
The resonant frequency of quartz crystal can be determined by the size and shape of the crystal and the electrodes. When designing a crystal oscillator, various parameters such as size, shape of the crystal and the electrodes, load capacitance and drive level must be carefully chosen to achieve accurate and stable oscillation frequency.
ECS-42-12-1 quartz crystal offers a cost-effective solution for frequency control and timing applications with its high frequency accuracy, low power consumption and long life. As a widely used device in modern electronics, it has proven its reliability and stability.
