ECS-8FMX-010-TR is a quartz signal oscillator designed to replace the traditional mechanical resonators and is suitable for many applications. It is used in low-power radio-frequency (RF) circuits as a reference signal generator, especially in Bluetooth, Zigbee and WiFi broadcasting systems. This oscillator is also commonly used in telecommunication systems, signal processing, and remote control systems. Finally, they make an excellent clock source for digital and microprocessor-based circuit systems.Working Principle
ECS-8FMX-010-TR oscillator operates based on the Piezoelectric effect. Quartz is a natural piezoelectric material, and when an electric field is applied to its surface, its crystal structure deforms, creating a mechanical vibration. This vibration is then amplified within the enclosure when the correct external circuitry is applied.The principle behind ECS-8FMX-010-TR oscillator is quite simple. When a voltage of proper magnitude is applied between two terminations of a quartz crystal, it is caused to flex in the direction perpendicular to its faces as a result of the Piezoelectric effect. This creates a small displacement, which is subsequently amplified as a mechanical vibration. When the electric field is released and the quartz crystal is allowed to relax, it is returned to its original shape and produces a further mechanical vibration. This cycle repeats itself, resulting in a continuous vibration that can be picked up by the oscillator’s output terminals.The oscillator is designed such that the frequency of this mechanical vibration is dependent on the size and dimensions of the quartz crystal. The frequency is also affected by the physical properties of the quartz crystal, such as its elasticity and piezoelectric coefficient. Careful selection of the quartz crystal dimensions and the right external circuitry, in conjunction with good enclosure design, allows for the oscillator to reach precision of around 10 ppm. The ECS-8FMX-010-TR oscillator has a number of advantages over traditional mechanical resonators, such as lower power consumption, higher shock resistance, smaller size, and fewer components.
