Film Capacitors
Film capacitors are generally known as film dielectric capacitors, film capacitors, plastic capacitors, or polyester capacitors. The dielectric material which is used to construct a film capacitor is usually polyester, metallized polyester, polypropylene, polycarbonate, polystyrene, and various combinations of these materials. They can also have many layers of thin metallized films.
ECW-H10562HVB is a type of film capacitor which makes use of polypropylene material as its dielectric. It is generally used when a high power dissipation with fast transient response is needed, as this particular capacitor can withstand voltage levels ranging from 600V to 1200V. Furthermore, its small size and low cost make it suitable for many applications.
ECW-H10562HVB Application Field
The ECW-H10562HVB film capacitor is mostly used in applications where a transient response and high power dissipation are required, such as in power supply circuits, UPS, inverters, motor drives, and other industrial applications. It can also be found in applications involving AC line filtering, high frequency noise suppression, common mode noise suppression, high frequency pulse, and high speed data line noise suppression.
ECW-H10562HVB Working Principle
In a film capacitor such as the ECW-H10562HVB, an internal dielectric material is sandwiched between two metallic layers, and when a voltage is applied across the capacitor, an electric field is created between the two layers. This electric field is the main factor responsible for the working of a film capacitor. During charging, a charge flows from the negative terminal of the capacitor to the positive terminal, resulting in current flow within the capacitor. This current results in the movement of electrons and ions within the capacitor, which ultimately results in an accumulation of charge on the plate.
This accumulation of charge creates an electric field, known as capacitance, between the two layers of the capacitor. When the voltage is applied across the capacitor, the electric field created by the capacitance induces an opposing electrical field that opposes the flow of current. This opposing field resists current flow and this is what makes the capacitor work as a filtering and energy storage device.
The ECW-H10562HVB film capacitor, due to its ability to sustain large amounts of current with fast transient response, is a perfect candidate for applications involving high peak currents and transient response. Furthermore, due to the low cost of this capacitor, it is also ideal for applications which demand a cost-effective solution.
