Film Capacitors

Film capacitors, sometimes called film canned capacitors, are capacitors that employ thin plastic films as the dielectric, with metal electrodes and often internal metal layer electrodes as the conductive plates. Commonly used thin plastic films employed in film capacitors are polyester, polystyrene, polycarbonate, and polypropylene films. Then, as long as the voltage on the plate remains constant, a steady electric field is generated between the plates.
