The ECX-H37BN-20.000 is an oscillator and is classified as a voltage controlled crystal oscillator (VCXO). Stable frequency over temperature variations, low power consumption and high phase noise figure are the main advantages of this oscillator. It features frequency stability of 15 ppm from 0°C to 70°C, maximum frequency deviation is 20 PPM, static pulling is ±15 PPM and Aging is ±2 PPM. This oscillator is designed to use a high frequency quartz crystal as the frequency reference and is ideal for a wide range of applications.

The applications of this oscillator are wide-reaching. It is suitable for RF data communication, CATV/MATV systems, wireless mobile communication systems, etc. It can also be used in networking, military, security, medical and monitoring systems which require accurate frequency stability and low noise. This oscillator is able to provide stable frequency output signals and show very good temperature stability and minimal frequency gain over the operating temperature.

The working principle is quite simple. The quartz crystal commands the start of the oscillation cycle at the precise frequency the crystal vibrates at. This signal is fed to a voltage controlled amplifier (VCA). The signal is then amplified and the amplifier output is filtered and returned to the input. This creates an oscillating waveform at the specified frequency. The output frequency of the oscillator can be fine-tuned by controlling the supply voltage.

The ECX-H37BN-20.000 oscillator is typically supplied in a 14-pin metal dual-in-line (DIP) package and can operate over a wide design temperature range from -50 to 85 °C.
