Oscillators are electronic components which generate regular alternating current (AC) or waves for use in several applications including signal generation, timing, frequency stabilization and synchronization. The ECX-L32BN-16.384 oscillator is an electronic component developed to generate stable and precise signals in the application of radio and TV broadcasting systems, telecom systems, cells phones, intelligent instrumentation systems and high speed communication networks.

This oscillator had been designed as if it was an extremely accurate active RC oscillator with two separate output frequencies of 16.384 MHz and 32KHz but has the output amplitudes to more than double of the standard active RC oscillator. With its built-in frequency-error detector, the unit can monitor its operating frequency and make corrections to ensure that is always at the ideal frequency, allowing for it to be used in applications that require high stability from the waveform in question.

The ECX-L32BN-16.384 oscillator can be used in a wide variety of applications with its high outputs amplitudes, low phase noise, and wide range of frequencies. It has low jitter and resolution capability up to ± 10ppb making it suited for use in broadcast services. In addition, it can be used in wireless GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) and communications applications such as in Tactical Communication systems, and also in GPS applications due to its low phase noise.

The ECX-L32BN-16.384is able to generate very precise and reliable signals thanks to its working principle, which is based on Piezoelectricity. Piezoelectricity is the electrical effect produced when a material such as quartz is put under mechanical stress. The quartz crystal in the oscillator creates an electric field when an alternating current is applied to it. This field vibrates at a frequency determined by the crystal size. This frequency is very stable and accurate and therefore it can be used to create accurate and reliable signals for many different applications.
