The EE-SX954-R 1M Optical Sensor is a slot type photointerrupter with a transistor output. This type of sensor is used to detect the interrupting of light when it passes through a slot or hole in an object. The interrupting of the light is then converted into an electrical signal which can be used to trigger alarms, switches or other applications.The EE-SX954-R 1M operates on a 4.5V DC power supply and provides high sensitivity with it\'s detection distance of up to 1mm. It\'s small size and rotary encoder capability make it attractive for many applications. Its 2mm slot width allows a variety of objects to be detected and used in diverse applications.The working principle of the EE-SX954-R 1M is based on the use of photoelectrics. Photoelectric technology is used to detect the presence of light in various ways, such as reflection, absorption, and transmission. In the case of the EE-SX954-R 1M, a light-emitting diode (LED) is used to generate a beam of infrared light, which is then focused onto the slot in the object to be monitored. When the slot is occluded, the beam of light is interrupted, and the transistor output circuit is triggered.Applications for the EE-SX954-R 1M include detection of thin objects in high-speed processes; control of linear motors; proximity sensing; control of access gates; conveyor monitoring; and page-turning detection in book binding. Using it in linear motor and conveyor applications, the EE-SX954-R 1M can accurately detect small objects on the conveyor belt.An additional benefit of the EE-SX594-R 1M is that it is also able to detect different patterns of light interruption.
