The EK-U1-ZCU102-G-J is an industry-leading evaluation board based on the Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC from Xilinx that enables embedded developers to rapidly prototype hardware and software for embedded systems. The board’s versatile features, robust design and functional capabilities make it suitable for wide-scale applications such as FPGA, CPLD, embedded vision, and edge AI.

The board is based on the Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ ZU9CG MPSoC and features powerful FPGA and ARM architecture cores, integrated Gigabit-class Ethernet transceiver, programmable logic, monitoring and timing circuitry, support for external DRAM memory, and a large selection of peripheral I/Os for expansion. In addition, the board comes pre-loaded and configured with a comprehensive array of software development tools and applications, allowing users to get up and running quickly when designing systems for complex functionality.

The board features two powerful FPGA components—an Arm Cortex-A53 Dual-Core ARM processing unit and an Xilinx Artix-7 FPGA. The FPGA provides plenty of logic resources for implementing complex logic designs, such as CPLD and PulboRAM architectures, as well as flexible reconfiguration capabilities for maximum design flexibility. The FPGA also supports additional on-chip peripherals such as ethernet, dual UART, I²C, jtag, and USB. Additionally, the board supports an external DDR3 SDRAM or DDR4 SDRAM memory for applications that require additional memory resources.

The board’s I/O peripherals provide numerous options for expanding the hardware capability of the board. The isolation-optimized dual Gigabit Ethernet transceiver and USB transceiver support up to four external Ethernet ports and four external USB ports. The board also features a wide range of other I/O peripherals, including SPI, HDMI, SDI, DisplayPort, an SMA connector, and more. Additionally, several expansion connectors are available for connecting a range of sensors and actuators as desired in a given application.

The EK-U1-ZCU102-G-J evaluation board is ideal for applications in the embedded industry, as it provides a simple platform for rapid prototyping and comprehensive software development tools that make it easy to design and debug complex logic applications.
