Microphones
The EM-27013-000 microphone is a multi-pattern condenser microphone that can adapt to a variety of recording situations. It features three selectable polar patterns, proximity effect compensation, low-cut filter, and a low noise preamplifier. Its low-noise preamplifier provides a high signal-to-noise ratio and a neutral, natural sound. The EM-27013-000 ensures accurate signal reproduction, and is well suited for both studio and live applications.
Application Field
The EM-27013-000 is ideal for vocal and instrument recording in a variety of settings. It is well suited for recording individual instruments as well as groups. It is also great for capturing room ambience in both studio and live venues. The EM-27013-000 is capable of uniformly and accurately representing speech and ambient sound in film and television production. Its wide frequency response makes this microphone especially suitable for pipe organ recording.
Working Principle
The EM-27013-000 microphone utilizes the electro-acoustic principle of a diaphragm within an electromagnetic field. This is the same principle employed in dynamic microphones, however, the diaphragm in a condenser microphone is much thinner and is capable of producing a greater sensitivity and a much higher signal-to-noise ratio. At a very basic level, the EM-27013-000 works by using a fixed charged back plate and a fixed charged diaphragm. As sound vibrations enter the microphone capsule, the diaphragm moves, which modifies the electric field. The resulting signal is then altered in order to provide a louder, clearer signal to the output. The EM-27013-000 features a three-way pattern control, allowing users to select between three polar patterns – cardioid, figure eight, and omnidirectional. Each pattern captures sound differently by controlling the sensitivity at different angles. Cardioid is the most focused polar pattern, ideal for capturing a single source of sound and reducing background noise. Figure eight is sensitive to sound from both the front and the back of the microphone, allowing for low- and high-frequency stereo recordings. Omnidirectional captures sound evenly from all directions, making it great for live performances. In addition, the EM-27013-000 also features proximity effect compensation, which allows the microphone to maintain a constant level of sensitivity regardless of how close or far the sound is. This helps to eliminate low frequency buildups when the microphone is placed close to a sound source. It also features a low-cut filter to further combat unwanted low frequency rumble.
