The ERZ-E10F621 Varistor is a specialized TVS used to protect electronic components from voltage transients (surges) in industrial applications.

The Varistor remains biased between two input terminals at a level relative to the application when no transient voltage exists.

When a surge or transient voltage occurs, the Biased Varistor begins to clap, allowing a largest amount of current to pass through during the whole cycle. The surge energy is suddenly and temporarily stored in the Varistor, resulting in the Varistor being placed in a low capacitance/inductive state after the transient surge has finished. The discharged surge energy is then dissipated across the Varistor, protecting the system from harm.
