ERZ-E14A221 is a kind of Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) with the commonly used breakdown voltage of 15V. It is also referred to as Varistor, which has a nonlinear voltage-current characteristic. Generally, it is used to protect the sensitive electronic components from damage due to external or internal transients. The primary purpose of a TVS is to limit the amount of voltage and other energy reaching a sensitive electronic component, by providing a short-circuit, or low impedance connection when the voltage across it exceeds its breakdown voltage.
